Revox Studio 4 – Fully Tested Three-Way Loudspeakers from the Legendary Swiss Revox Era
The Revox Studio 4 is one of those loudspeakers that remains surprisingly underrated today. While many manufacturers of the late 1970s and early 1980s focused on spectacular bass or exaggerated treble, Revox pursued an entirely different philosophy. Their goal was neutral, accurate and fatigue-free music reproduction — a design approach that still makes the Studio 4 an exceptional loudspeaker today.
The pair offered here is in very well-preserved original condition and has been thoroughly inspected in our workshop.
During servicing, all drive units were individually tested, the crossover networks were inspected and both loudspeakers underwent extensive functional and listening tests. All drivers operate exactly as intended.
The Studio 4 is a classic three-way loudspeaker featuring a large woofer for deep, controlled bass, a large soft-dome midrange driver renowned for its exceptionally natural vocal reproduction and a refined dome tweeter providing excellent detail without ever becoming aggressive.
Sonically, the Studio 4 impresses with its remarkable balance and musical honesty. Vocals sound lifelike and present, instruments retain their natural timbre and even complex recordings remain effortless and transparent. Classical music, jazz and acoustic recordings especially benefit from the speaker's neutral presentation.
Visually, the Studio 4 has aged exceptionally well. The original metal grilles are included and give these loudspeakers the unmistakable appearance of classic professional studio equipment.

Our Verdict
The Revox Studio 4 is one of the hidden gems of classic loudspeaker design. Its exceptionally neutral tonal balance, superb vocal reproduction and effortless musical presentation make it an outstanding partner for quality amplifiers from Accuphase, Revox, Luxman, Braun, Quad or Naim. A loudspeaker built for music lovers rather than sound effects.
The A1 arrived safely with me. The device was really well packaged by you and is visually in perfect condition for its age! In the meantime I have carried out some listening tests (with my rather modest components: Nuber nuWave floorstanding speakers, Dual 704 with Vinylmaster Silver and Technics Sl 1500 with Goldring IGC 910). In comparison, my Yamaha A-960, which has also been overhauled, can't keep up. The A1 reproduces the sounds extremely cleanly and precisely with great depth and pleasant dynamics, really great sound! More quality than I expected.
