Marantz Model 2226 Black – Fully Restored Classic Receiver with LED Illumination
The Marantz Model 2226 is one of the most beloved members of the legendary 22xx receiver series and perfectly represents everything enthusiasts admire about classic Marantz equipment: timeless design, superb build quality and an exceptionally musical presentation.
The example offered here occupies a particularly special position within the model range. It is the significantly rarer black version, presented in outstanding cosmetic condition and fully restored by our workshop.
The classic Marantz tuning dial looks particularly striking thanks to the upgraded LED illumination. Combined with the black front panel, the deep blue lighting creates an elegant and highly distinctive appearance.
Despite its modest power rating on paper, the 2226 delivers a remarkably mature and authoritative sound. Its carefully engineered amplifier section and generously dimensioned power supply provide a level of musical engagement that has made this receiver a favourite among collectors and music lovers alike.
Sonically, the 2226 embodies the classic Marantz character. Our Verdict
The Marantz Model 2226 is one of the most charming receivers of the golden age of HiFi. In this rare black finish, fully restored and upgraded with elegant LED illumination, it represents a highly desirable collector's piece and an exceptional music system for years to come.
The A1 arrived safely with me. The device was really well packaged by you and is visually in perfect condition for its age! In the meantime I have carried out some listening tests (with my rather modest components: Nuber nuWave floorstanding speakers, Dual 704 with Vinylmaster Silver and Technics Sl 1500 with Goldring IGC 910). In comparison, my Yamaha A-960, which has also been overhauled, can't keep up. The A1 reproduces the sounds extremely cleanly and precisely with great depth and pleasant dynamics, really great sound! More quality than I expected.
