Revox A720 Preceiver – High-end preamplifier and tuner combination

The Revox A720 is a highly sophisticated “preceiver” – a combination of preamplifier and tuner engineered to an exceptionally high standard. Developed by the Revox / Studer group, it represents the uncompromising engineering philosophy of the 1970s.

Unlike conventional receivers, the A720 deliberately omits a power amplifier stage, focusing entirely on signal processing quality. The result is a very clean, low-noise preamplifier combined with a highly advanced FM tuner section.

A particularly striking feature is the frequency display using Nixie tubes. These classic, warm glowing digits not only give the unit its unmistakable vintage character, but also represent a fascinating piece of display technology rarely found today. The frequency is shown clearly and precisely – both functional and visually captivating.

The quartz-stabilized synthesizer tuner allows accurate frequency selection in 50 kHz steps and delivers excellent reception performance, high selectivity and outstanding stability.

The preamplifier section is equally impressive, featuring a complex design with numerous ICs, transistors and FETs, ensuring low distortion and a wide frequency response.
