Philips 312 Electronic – Classic Suspended Belt-Drive Turntable with Original Shure M75MB Cartridge
The Philips 312 Electronic is widely regarded as one of the most innovative turntables of the late 1970s. While many manufacturers still relied on purely mechanical controls, Philips introduced an advanced electronically controlled belt-drive turntable featuring touch-sensitive controls, electronic speed regulation and automatic tonearm lift. Even today, the 312 impresses with its outstanding speed stability, low-noise operation and exceptionally well-designed low-mass tonearm.
The example offered here is in beautifully preserved condition and has been carefully inspected in our workshop. All functions operate exactly as intended, making this classic turntable ready to provide many more years of reliable vinyl playback.
At its heart is an electronically regulated DC servo motor combined with a suspended subchassis construction. This sophisticated design delivers excellent rotational stability while effectively isolating the platter and tonearm from external vibrations.
The precision low-mass tonearm is perfectly matched to high-compliance cartridges and accepts any standard ½-inch cartridge.
Included in the sale is the original Shure M75MB moving magnet cartridge, one of the most respected cartridges of its era. It is an excellent match for the lightweight Philips tonearm and delivers a smooth, balanced and highly musical presentation with natural vocals, detailed treble and impressive soundstage.
The cartridge has been professionally installed, precisely aligned and adjusted in our workshop, allowing the turntable to be enjoyed immediately after unpacking.
Elegant touch-sensitive controls provide convenient operation, while electronic auto lift and shut-off ensure safe handling at the end of every record.

The A1 arrived safely with me. The device was really well packaged by you and is visually in perfect condition for its age! In the meantime I have carried out some listening tests (with my rather modest components: Nuber nuWave floorstanding speakers, Dual 704 with Vinylmaster Silver and Technics Sl 1500 with Goldring IGC 910). In comparison, my Yamaha A-960, which has also been overhauled, can't keep up. The A1 reproduces the sounds extremely cleanly and precisely with great depth and pleasant dynamics, really great sound! More quality than I expected.
