Revox B795

Revox B795 – LINATRACK Tangential Turntable – Serviced – Including ELAC Cartridge

The Revox B795 is one of the most technically distinctive turntables of the classic Revox era. Instead of using a conventional pivoted tonearm, Revox equipped the B795 with its sophisticated LINATRACK® tangential tonearm, which is electronically servo-controlled as it travels across the record.

Combined with a quartz-controlled direct-drive motor, the result is a turntable that perfectly represents the Revox philosophy of combining precision mechanics with sophisticated electronic control.

The example offered here is in very good cosmetic condition and has been technically serviced and carefully checked in our workshop.

Revox LINATRACK® Tangential Tonearm

The most fascinating technical feature of the B795 is undoubtedly its LINATRACK® tangential tonearm.

Unlike a conventional pivoted tonearm, which follows an arc across the record, the extremely short tonearm of the B795 is electronically repositioned as playback progresses. Revox specifies a tangential tracking error of less than 0.5°.

Due to the tangential principle, conventional skating compensation is not required.

Tonearm tracking is controlled by servo electronics and a DC motor. Lowering of the tonearm is electronically controlled and pneumatically damped, while automatic switch-off at the end of the record is also controlled by the servo system.

Tracking force can be adjusted between 0.8 and 2.0 grams.

Quartz-Controlled Direct Drive

Revox also employed considerable engineering effort in the turntable drive itself. The B795 uses a quartz-controlled direct-drive system operating at 33⅓ and 45 rpm.

Specified speed accuracy is ±0.01 %. The substantial platter measures 313 mm in diameter and weighs approximately 2.1 kg.

Revox specifies a start-up time of less than two seconds at 33⅓ rpm. Deceleration from 45 to 33⅓ rpm also takes less than two seconds.

ELAC Cartridge Included

Our B795 is fitted with an ELAC cartridge with a DN 795 E stylus. The cartridge/stylus has been inspected by us and is in excellent working condition.

The cartridge is included in the advertised price, meaning the turntable is supplied with a complete and tested playback system.

If desired, we can also fit another suitable cartridge. Due to the special construction of the LINATRACK tonearm, however, not every cartridge is equally suitable.

We will be happy to advise you on the selection of a high-quality cartridge that works particularly well with the Revox and, of course, can also carry out professional installation and adjustment.

Our Verdict

The Revox B795 is a wonderful example of the highly individual approach Revox took to analogue record playback. Rather than simply refining a conventional turntable, Revox combined quartz-controlled direct drive with an electronically servo-controlled tangential tonearm.

The result is a technically fascinating turntable whose LINATRACK design remains distinctly different from conventional record players even decades later.

Our example is in very good condition, has been technically serviced and checked in our workshop and is supplied with the tested ELAC cartridge.

An especially interesting turntable for Revox enthusiasts, but equally appealing to vinyl lovers looking for an unconventional and sophisticated piece of classic analogue engineering.
